Fashion Cycle
The term "fashion cycle" describes the process by which a specific style, trend, color, etc. gains traction before gradually losing appeal to the general public. ³. There are five phases to the fashion cycle.
- Introduction: a fresh take on fashion is presented; it could involve a particular silhouette, color, pattern, fabric, or other element. During Fashion Week, this stage usually finds itself under the control of a prominent brand or designer.
- Rise: the ascent to prominence of a trend, during which a style transforms from merely "new" to "trendy." These days, influencers and celebrities frequently assist in this, helping to popularize a style through either sponsored marketing or sincere gratitude.
- Peak: A particular design reaches the mature stage when it reaches its maximum level of popularity.
- Decline: when customers believe that a design is overused and readily available in the store all season long, and when they see what other people are wearing, they start looking for something unique and distinctive.
- Obsolescence: at stage five, the obsolescence phase, or end of trends, is seen. At stage four, the style started to lose appeal. Users completely lost interest in the design at this point and started following other trends.
